2024 Women’s ELC Concludes Pool Play; Italia to Face Spain Next
After six days of intense competition, the 2024 Women’s European Lacrosse Championship concludes pool play and will begin the placement rounds tomorrow.
During pool play, Italy secured victories over Belgium, Netherlands, and Finland while facing their toughest test against reigning 2019 European Lacrosse champions, England.
Italy jumped out to a lead early, scoring the first goal of the game, but England quickly answered and their scoring threats proved to be too much to contain over the course of the game. After narrowing England’s lead to 3 after the half, Italy suffered a five goal run that granted England a comfortable cushion for the remainder of the game. After full time, it was England that secured a 16-6 victory.
This year’s ELC games were of special importance to Italy midfielder Benedetta Ravelli, who set an Italia Lacrosse record of 29 appearances in competition with the national team.
Italy now advances to the placement rounds and will face Spain tomorrow, July 16th, at 12:30 PM CET.
